Fresh start for Quad Communities 5/11/2006
Quad Communities Development Corporation is embarked on a tricky balancing act. It’s trying to shape–but not discourage–a torrent of new residential development, much of it upscale replacements for demolished public housing. And it’s trying to guard the interests of long-time residents–African-American families who held their ground during the hard times and hope to benefit from the neighborhood’s comeback.
Quad area gains rooftops, seeks retail 9/23/2005
Thirty real estate and community development experts toured the Quad Communities on July 28 and discussed strategies for attracting retail stores to serve an influx of 10,000 new residents over the next five years. The participants said it would take hard work, subsidies and an element of risk to get a retail renaissance underway.
